Our story

We’re an organic, family farm in Robertsbridge, East Sussex. After farming together in Tanzania, we settled here to grow 25 acres of elder trees, producing the finest organic elderflowers and elderberries in our orchard. You can buy our elderberries as frozen or dried fruit or frozen juice and our elderflowers fresh during the season. We craft our Great Taste award-winning cordials in partnership with a local winemaker, blending traditional methods with exceptional flavour.

Our orchard, planted in 2019 with premium German varieties Haschberg, Haidegg 13 and Haidegg 17, is Soil Association certified organic.

Passionate about nature, we’ve dedicated areas of the farm to species-rich grasslands and hedgerows, supporting wildlife and biodiversity.

  • Growing

    Our elderflower and elderberry trees are organically grown and carefully tended and pruned throughout the seasons.

  • Harvest

    The flowers and berries are hand-picked by our team at their peak, loaded onto our tractor, and quickly chilled in our cold rooms to preserve their freshness.

  • Processing

    The elderflowers are infused within hours of picking, while the elderberries are pressed, then both are expertly blended with other fresh juices (depending on the final cordial flavour) and sugar.

  • BOTTLING

    Each batch is bottled and labelled at our bottler’s facility only 10 miles away before returning to Bush Barn Farm, ready to be enjoyed.

Harvested late August to mid-September. Certified organic. Available stemmed, destemmed, dried or pressed. Packed with antioxidants and vitamins, ideal for drinks, jams, and health products such as elderberry gummies and syrups.

Our ingredients

At Bush Barn Farm, we believe that great taste starts with honesty. Transparency matters to us – because when you enjoy our cordials, you deserve to know exactly where every ingredient comes from. From hand-picked quince and rhubarb grown on artisan farms to the pure cane sugar that sweetens our blends, we source with care and integrity. Each element is chosen not only for its flavour but for the story behind it – connecting family farms, traditional methods, and a shared passion for quality.

  • Quince

    Our quince juice comes from Bleichhof, a specialist fruit farm just 24 miles from Maria's hometown in Germany. The fruit is hand-picked and freshly pressed and we collect the juice on our cordial delivery runs - connecting two artisan family farms. Quince adds a delicate, honeyed note with subtle floral undertones - a perfect complement to the elderflower's natural sweetness.

  • Rhubarb

    Sourced from Bleichhof near Maria's hometown in Germany, our rhubarb juice is freshly pressed to capture its distinctive sharp, tangy flavour. The juice travels back with us from our German deliveries, bringing together the best of British and European artisan farming. Its bright acidity balances beautifully with the mellow sweetness of elderflower, creating a refreshingly complex cordial.

  • Lemon

    We use freshly pressed, not-from-concentrate lemon juice that captures the bright, zesty flavour of fresh lemons. Its natural acidity and citrusy lift add the perfect balance to our recipes, enhancing the natural flavours of our elderflowers and elderberries.
